Your Future Self

Imagine some how, some way, and some time in the future, a time machine was successfully invented. And you were able to use it. Your future self found a way to travel back in time to this moment to meet with you, your present self. So here you are, and you find yourself standing face-to-face with your future self. What do you imagine your future self would say? Hopefully, you'll say "Thanks." Thanks for taking the time to eat well, get plenty of rest, live an active life, and have fun. Thanks for having eaten kale for breakfast, for having practiced gentle yoga, and taken naps.

Of course you won't really meet your future self in the present moment. But imagining the impact that day-to-day decisions have on yourself in the future will help you make choices that benefit your later life rather than just satisfying the wants and needs of your present self. So many of us plan, save, and conserve our financial resources in anticipation of retirement. But what are we doing to save for our long term 'health and happiness' retirement plan?

For me, standup paddling gets me outside, moving, and nourishes my soul with 'water therapy'. Whatever gets you out, whatever it is that you love to do - do it and move! And make your future self proud!
