Folklore and Myths

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the magic and mystery that naturally draws people to water. Coastal cultures throughout history have passed along stories and folklore, whether of sirens, serpents, monsters, or mermaids. It seems we've lost touch with those mysteries and perhaps that's because science and reason have allowed us to understand so much of our world.

But when I see a strange boil in the water, off in the distance, or an upwelling, I can't help wonder, or wish, if it isn't some creature from a lost time asking us to rethink everything we think we know and believe again in the magic that draws us to the sea.
